45 rpm: “Digital Love” – Daft Punk

This new column, 45 rpm, is meant to highlight not only standout singles – from albums new and old – but deep cuts, b sides, and the like. I’m going to try to keep this updated on a semi-daily basis. First up: “Digital Love” from Daft Punk’s 2001 opus Discovery.

This track combines so many different elements from different genres into one smooth disco tune, that features a killer, facemelting solo (thanks for the word choice, D’Amico). Check out the sweet Supertramp breakdown before the song kicks it back into high gear.
